A regular guy who was not only a brilliant scientist but dared to believe that he had a write to speak the truth to power, risking imprisonment and death in a nation of 1 billion people. The essential point of Fang’s life: that we should view the world and our leaders should choose their actions based on reflective reasoning and not on blind dogma that benefits the few at the expense of the many. Clearly this message is relevant both for China and even the US today.
