When you are off campus and do not have access to Front Page, you can see, and copy and paste files from and to (using Windows Explorer or My Computer) your VU webspace using either My Network Places on the PC desktop or Internet Explorer, which behave similarly and share information.
For a classroom computer, it is probably a good idea to reboot your machine first before using it.
Just click on this icon on the desktop and then click on 'Add Network Place" and copy your web address from Internet Explorer (open it first) into the appropriate address window and give it a name, any name, and say okay. Then it will give you a window into your webspace.
In IE, go to your homepage and copy your web address
(like
http://www34.homepage.villanova.edu/robert.jantzen/ ).
Then from the File menu, Open selection, check the "Open as Web Folder" box and
paste in your web address by rightclicking or (by ^v-ing) on the address window
and choosing paste. Then click on OKAY. This will also set up a shortcut in "My
Network Places" that you can access later.
The login window appears and you put in your VU username and password and hit OKAY and get an error (some kind of bug). Click on cancel and again a new login window pops up. Login again and this time SUCCESS! You should be looking at your folder list.
Once you have opened your web space in this way, you can then find a file using either Windows Explorer or My Computer (which is just Windows Explorer without the folder list, which can be restored with the View menu, Explorer Bar selection, Folders selection) and then you can paste it into your web space or a subfolder.
