Dear <...>,
On behalf of the local organizing committee of MG12
we invite you to chair the parallel session:
<...>
Is this an appropriate title?
We are now planning for the Twelth Marcel
Grossmann Meeting (MG12) to be held in Paris, France
during the week of July 12-18, 2009,
Sunday though Saturday, opening Monday morning.

email: mg12@icra.it
Tuesday is Bastille Day!
As information becomes available it will be posted on the
meeting website. The meeting will be an official celebration
of the 2009 Year of Astronomy sponsored by the United Nations
http://www.astronomy2009.org/
Paris is a wonderful city for any event, but we are especially
happy to make it a first time destination for our MG Meeting series,
especially during the week of Bastille Day, when Paris is alive with
many enjoyable events.
Optional on-site registration will take place Sunday afternoon
at the UNESCO headquarters. Plenary sessions will take place
Monday through Saturday mornings there, with the closing of the
meeting at the end of the last morning session. Tuesday afternoon will
be free to enjoy the Bastille Day celebrations. The conference
banquet will take place Wednesday evening at the UNESCO headquarters.
Parallel sessions will take place on four afternoons: Monday,
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in five rooms at UNESCO headquarters
and at some of the most outstanding scientific institutions nearby
(by metro) which have witnessed fundamental discoveries in
physics and mathematics, including the Ecole Normale Superieure,
l'Observatoire de Paris, the Collège de France, l'Institut Henry
Poincaré, all within walking distance of the Pantheon
(Foucault's pendulum) in the Latin Quarter.

The MG Meetings would not be possible without the generous help
of a large network of parallel session chairpersons and we
appreciate very much the valuable contribution you can make to
the success of the next meeting.
This is just a preliminary inquiry to find out whether or not you
are interested in chairing the above parallel session. Please let
us know as soon as possible by return email to the reply email
address of this message (mg12@icra.it)
together with your contact
information as requested below and please begin contacting possible
contributors to your session. If you do not wish to accept our
invitation, please let us know as well by email and we would
appreciate your suggestions for an alternative chairperson.
Since most of our work relies on efficient email communication,
we must be able to contact you and get a reply via email.
That means if we are able to establish contact in the first place,
that you put the conference email address in your address
book/contacts list or safe list or doing whatever it takes
to allow our incoming emails to pass through to your mailbox.
We also need the string "mg12" somewhere in the subject line so that
the forwarded email that arrives in our own mailboxes is clearly
identified, and we need a useful subject line so we can categorize
how to deal with it.
The chairperson responsibilities are described on the webpage:
http://www.homepage.villanova.edu/robert.jantzen/mg/mg12/mg12parallelchair.htm
The current parallel session program is:
http://www.icra.it/MG/mg12/en/parallel_session.htm
For our web program, we need the following from you as quickly as
possible:
1) a head shot photo (or web link to one) to identify you on our web page
program,
2) your official website URL to which your publications and vita are linked
to accompany the photo (see our examples below), and
3) a brief few line summary of the intent of the parallel session
to clarify the personal scientific imprint the chairperson intends
to give to his or her session.
This latter summary is useful as a guide for participants to decide where
to submit their abstracts. [For examples, see:
http://www.icra.it/MG/mg12/en/par_sessions_chairs.htm]
We look forward to hearing from you,
Remo Ruffini, chair of International Organizing Committee

Robert Jantzen, chair of International Coordinating Committee

Pierre Coullet, chair of Local Organizing Committee
