Dear Colleague, On behalf of the local organizing committee of MG12 we invite you to chair a parallel session: Is this an appropriate title? We are now planning for the Twelth Marcel Grossmann Meeting (MG12) to be held in Paris, France during the week of July 12-18, 2009, Sunday though Saturday, opening Monday morning. website: http://www.icra.it/MG/mg12/ email: mg12@icra.it Tuesday is Bastille Day! As information becomes available it will be posted on the meeting website. The meeting will be an official celebration of the 2009 Year of Astronomy sponsored by the United Nations http://www.astronomy2009.org/ Paris is a wonderful city for any event, but we are especially happy to make it a first time destination for our MG Meeting series. The local organizing committee has enlisted the help of the following key institutions in Paris relevant to the meeting to host this event. Meeting sessions will be held in rooms selected from: UNESCO Headquarters and in a few locations in the Latin Quarter a short Metro ride from the UNESCO location. The parallel sessions will be split among UNESCO and a number of institutions near by. Preliminary interactive maps of the UNESCO conference site and the additional parallel session sites and a global map showing all the supporting institutions are available at our location page: http://www.icra.it/MG/mg12/en/conf_location.htm The preliminary poster is: http://www.icra.it/MG/mg12/images/poster.pdf The current list of parallel session titles and chairpersons is: http://www.icra.it/MG/mg12/en/parallel_session.htm The MG Meetings would not be possible without the generous help of a large network of parallel session chairpersons and we appreciate very much the valuable contribution you can make to the success of the next meeting. This is just a preliminary inquiry to find out whether or not you are interested in chairing the above parallel session. Please let us know as soon as possible by return email to the reply email address of this message (mg12@icra.it) together with your contact information as requested below and please begin contacting possible contributors to your session. If you do not wish to accept our invitation, please let us know as well by email and we would appreciate your suggestions for an alternative chairperson. Since most of our work relies on efficient email communication, we must be able to contact you and get a reply via email. That means if we are able to establish contact in the first place, that you put the conference email address in your address book/contacts list or safe list or doing whatever it takes to allow our incoming emails to pass through to your mailbox. We also need the string "mg12" somewhere in the subject line so that the forwarded email that arrives in our own mailboxes is clearly identified, and we need a useful subject line so we can categorize how to deal with it. The chairperson responsibilities are described on the webpage: http://www.homepage.villanova.edu/robert.jantzen/mg/mg12/mg12parallelchair.htm The current list of parallel session titles and chairpersons is: http://www.icra.it/MG/mg12/en/parallel_session.htm The MG11 parallel program session logs can be consulted for an idea of how time was allotted: http://www.icra.it/mg/mg11/schedule.htm Click on the checkmark arrow for a particular session to see the time grid.
