at the mg12 website, email addresses are protected in the following way.
Replace the string " AT " by "@" when using the email addresses below (an effort to avoid extra SPAM sent to those addresses).

the same explanation is at the top of the plenary speaker list.
perhaps you want to make this explanation more obvious on the website for people who don't see the beginning of either page.
the reasoning is that a significant number of physicists whom we wish to deal with these days have tried to offer their email addresses as human but not machine readable, either by a trick like this or by using a GIF or JPG graphic for the email address which cannot be read by machine. SPAM is an increasing problem that makes all of our lives difficult, so if we expect those few who are concerned about this problem to cooperate with us, we should respect their wishes not to have the explicit machine readable email address published on our website.
If a physicist today cannot understand that
Felix.Aharonian AT mpi-hd.mpg.de
which is fed into his or her email recipient window
stands for
Felix.Aharonian@mpi-hd.mpg.de
then it is a sad situation.
This is easily edited in a few seconds in the recipient window to be a useable email address.
Since many people entrust us with their emails, we should at least be knowledgeable about this problem. Please read these two web pages:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spambot
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Address_munging
If you are still not convinced, take a poll of the chairpersons asking for their permission to restore their machine readable emails. maybe they don't care. the same for plenary speakers...
