Email subject heading: sent April 21, 2005 MG11 ICC: International Coordinating Committee inquiry Dear MG10 International Coordinating Committee members and some new MG11 members, It gives us great pleasure to announce that the three volume set of Proceedings of the Tenth Marcel Grossmann Meeting (MG10) which took place in July 2003 in Rio de Janiero, Brazil is now in the process of being published by World Scientific and should appear in a few months. The time has come to for you to join us in the preparations already underway these past 6 months for a new Marcel Grossmann Meeting MG11 to be held in St Petersburg, Russia the week of July 2-8, 2006. website: http://www.icra.it/MG/mg11/ email: mg11@icra.it St Petersburg is a beautiful historical city at the same latitude as Stockholm and Helsinki and similarly reachable by air in a matter of a few hours from many major European airports. With a touch of Venice in its canals and island quarters, a rival of Paris in its European art and architecture (the latter marked by historical Italian architectural contributions of Rossi, Rastrelli and Quarenghi), and its clear importance in European and world history, St Petersburg is without a doubt an attractive destination for MG11 participants and their accompanying persons. Much of the success of this meeting, as for the previous ones, strongly depends on your collaboration and suggestions. It is important to let us know how we can help the scientists of your country in attending the meeting, the first Marcel Grossmann Meeting to be held in Russia. Its location will also facilitate a large participation by distinguished scientists from Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union. This is just a preliminary inquiry to find out whether or not you are interested in continuing your role on this committee from the previous meeting. If you wish to continue in this role, please let us know as soon as possible by return email to the reply email address of this message (mg11@icra.it) together with an update of your contact information requested below. If you do not wish to continue, please let us know as well by email and we would appreciate your suggestions for a replacement. Because of the bureaucratic difficulties of waiting for every person to respond, we will assume that you will continue in your position unless you inform us otherwise, but it is essential that we have your current contact data correct for our committee to function. To remind you of the role of this committee: The International Coordinating Committee for the MG Meetings helps gather input for the planning of the scientific program and facilitates the attendence of participants from each nation where work in this broad field of science is done. Coordination of travel funding requests from the participants’ country of origin or making the local organizing committee aware of visa requirements appropriate to a given country are two country specific activities that members of this committee should handle. In countries with multiple members, these latter activities if necessary would of course be shared. In the USA for example, NSF travel fund application will be arranged through mutual agreement with the International Organizing Committee and a volunteer. Finally, with the volume of email we are all experiencing these days, filtering has become very important to sorting the incoming flow. Please use the string "mg11" somewhere in the subject heading of any future email related to the meeting that you send to us on the topic, if you do not use the conference email mailbox as the recipient. Even then a wise use of the subject heading is helpful to us in managing that mailbox. We look forward to hearing from you, Robert Jantzen, chair of International Coordinating Committee robert.jantzen@villanova.edu Andrey Finkelstein, chair of Local Organizing Committee amf@quasar.ipa.nw.ru Remo Ruffini, chair of International Organizing Committee ruffini@icra.it UPDATED CONTACT INFORMATION Full Name (Family name last): Preferred Email address: Country: Institution: Institutional Postal Address: Personal/Institutional web address: Fax with country code: Is this a change from the current listing on http://www.icra.it/MG/mg11/ICC.html ?
