Academic Integrity at VU

Every Villanova student should read this:
 https://www1.villanova.edu/villanova/provost/resources/student/policies/integrity.html

Unfortunately there is no true atmosphere of academic integrity at Villanova since it requires active policing and enforcement rather than being a part of the student consciousness like at Bryn Mawr College or Wellesley College where students self-schedule and self-monitor their own exams and actually respect the freedom to function unsupervised.

dr bob encourages the active use of technology in mathematics assessment, which means students use their laptops during in class exams, allowing them to easily open a browser and look at old quizzes or tests or sites on the internet that might be helpful. This is a serious violation of Villanova's academic integrity code and can result in failing the course.

TESTS AND QUIZZES

All quizzes and the third test will be "take home" with adequate time to reflect and "open resource", since there is no way to police restrictions on access to such resources. Learning is something a student has to choose to engage in, and mindless copying of similar problems without understanding only defeats the purpose of these assessments, and the student who does this is passing up the chance to synthesize what knowledge they have gained. The only restriction is "no collaboration". If you are really stuck, email bob.
